Conditions were ideal for bicycling. Therefore, I decided to go for a metric century, that is 100 kilometers or 62.1371 miles. The ride was along the Schuylkill River Trail and then the Perkiomen trail, which included this hill.

Of course, going down was fun. Coming up was quite a bit of work. Got to use that granny gear on my bike. Wow! What a workout. In the end, I managed to go 67 miles, including about 30 on gravel, which was a good test of my new Jamis Renegade. Bike did fine. Now I need a rest.

Dual Fuel Bicycle
I spotted this bicycle during my recent travels. As you can see, it has two power system, the pedals and a small engine:
Engine and pedal powered bicycle.
Note that tiny engine mounted on the frame. Here’s a closer look:
Closer look at the engine on this bicycle.
There’s a separate chain and rear gear there. Take a look at the other side.
Another look at the drive train on this dual powered bicycle.
Not sure how powerful that engine is. However, it has to be helpful on the hills. Quite an interesting contraption. Would like to see it run.
