St. Mark’s Comics

On St. Mark’s Place in New York City, you’ll find a great comic book shop. Here’s a look at the front.

I first went into this shop in 1986 when it was located on the upper level. Nonetheless, they still have all your favorite comic books from the major companies as well as the independents, not to mention a large selection of graphic novels, games, and other related material.

Friendly staff will help find what you’re looking for and give you the latest news from the business. Comic art can be fantastic, so take your time browsing. Just another form of story-telling. Enjoy them all.

The Subway Card

New York City’s subway is an expansive network of interconnected trains. You can go a long way for a relatively low fare. And fairly quickly, too.

Using the rechargeable cards saves time and hassle. They’re bought from one of the machines where you can use a credit card (get the frequent flier miles). Then you swipe the card as you go through the turnstile. The display shows how much cash you have remaining on the card, so no surprises when to recharge.

Chester County Gravel Fondo

The Chester County Gravel Fondo provided an opportunity to put my Jamis Renegade to through its paces. More than 300 riders showed up. Here’s a photo from the rider brief before the start:

As you can see, the course began at Victory Brewing, which provided lots of parking as well as beverages and food after. The ride went through beautiful countryside that included views of horses, cattle, and plenty of fields. Sorry, was too busy riding up the hills to take any photos, which I regret. Still, it was a challenging ride and the Renegade took all the gravel in stride. Not one flat, either. Looking forward to doing this again.

Lyon Air Museum

While in California, I stopped by the Lyon Air Museum, which is located adjacent to the John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana. They have a collection of World War II airplanes and period vehicles that are definitely worth a look, such as this Mitchell B-25 in excellent condition.

There there’s a B-17, which you see in the next photo.

And a couple of DC-3’s including this one in American Airlines livery.

I’m told that all these aircraft fly. Judging by the visible condition, I would agree. They’re in excellent shape and the runway is right there. Many of these are on my aviation bucket list. I hope to fly them some day.
