Parade Rest

In the back basin of the Philadelphia Navy Yard, you’ll find a number of ships in reserve or mothballed status. Fortunately, they’re not needed as intended. Still, sad to see them laid up. Here’s a look at a few on a clear morning.

Eventually they will be sold or scrapped. I’m sure their former crews have many stories to tell.

Lucy, Margate, NJ, USA

Lucy is one of those roadside attractions from another era. A giant elephant that looks out to sea in Margate, New Jersey.

Fun for the whole family, this type of thing is. On the afternoon I was there, it was closed. Still something to see. Enjoy the journey.

Racks of Ribs

Attending the West Chester Food Fair (Pennsylvania) is always lots of fun, not to mention a culinary delight. While ambling down the street, I came up on these racks of ribs on the smoker.

That is quite a pile of smoked goodness there. Roamed about for two hours sampling all kinds of food. Was a great time. Enjoy every meal.

Metric Century

Conditions were ideal for bicycling. Therefore, I decided to go for a metric century, that is 100 kilometers or 62.1371 miles. The ride was along the Schuylkill River Trail and then the Perkiomen trail, which included this hill.

Of course, going down was fun. Coming up was quite a bit of work. Got to use that granny gear on my bike. Wow! What a workout. In the end, I managed to go 67 miles, including about 30 on gravel, which was a good test of my new Jamis Renegade. Bike did fine. Now I need a rest.
