View from Claudia’s, Aruba

Claudia’s is a little bar along Aruba’s Palm Beach. Claudia herself is a charming Colombian lady who likes to chat, sling drinks, and smile the whole time. Here’s a view of the workspace.

Tucked away at the Playa Linda timeshare, you can’t miss the place as you walk along the beachfront promenade. Stop in for a cold beverage, some conversation, and take in this Caribbean scene.

That will thaw your bones on a cold January night, eh? Works for me. I was loitering here a few days, brushing up on my Spanish and making some notes for another Aruba story. There are plenty to tell, more than I’ll ever finish, which is remarkable for such a small island.

Bon dia.

Under A Blue Flag, cover

Well, an advanced copy of Under A Blue Flag just arrived. The cover looks great.

Under A Blue Flag is the sequel to An Island Away, my first book about Aruba. I highly recommend reading the first book before starting the second. Rest assured, your favorite characters are back. The book is schedule for release during the first week in February. It will also be available on Amazon’s Kindle.

Enjoy the reading!

Another Savaneta Sunrise

Savaneta, Aruba, DWI. About 0530 in the morning the sun starts peeking over the horizon. From the front patio of my little shack here the dawn puts on as brilliant a show as dusk. Here’s what it looked like this morning.

That bright speck in the upper center right is Venus. (click on the photo to enlarge it) When traveling to a place I know or don’t, I do my best to catch the nature phenomena. They’re typically better than any show and the price can’t be beat.

Starbucks, Aruba

If you’re visiting the island of Aruba and can’t do without your double latte mocha whatever from Starbucks, I have good news. A couple of branches have opened. A very nice one opened in the middle of the Renaissance Hotel on the ground floor. Here’s a view from the balcony lobby above.

You can see the miniature wharf where you can catch the boat shuttling you over to the private island. Anyway, from what I understand, WiFi is available here. Take a look at the people enjoying their brew while tapping away on the internet.

Looks like a fine place to check your email, watch the people, and recharge your caffeine batteries. This location is immediately adjacent to the shopping mall with all the high end stores, which may also be therapeutic to some readers of this blog. Enjoy your visit and don’t forget to shut down the computer once in a while and get out in the sunshine.

Bon dia.
