Hall of Maps, Vatican Museum

The Hall of Maps is surely one of the highlights of the Vatican Museum. During the “Waking the Vatican” tour, a visitor has the privilege of standing in the darkness as the key master switches on the lights. Here’s a video showing our reaction:

It was an impressive experience. Of course, once your eyes adjust to the light the maps are easy to see and brilliant renditions for the time they were created. This tour is worth every cent. I’ll post photos showing some of the maps at a later date.

American Airlines Flight 740 to Madrid

Just for fun, I made a little video showing the takeoff, meals, and landing on American Airlines Flight 740 from Philadelphia to Madrid, Spain.

It was a great flight. Excellent crew, good food, and safe. Looking forward to many more like this.

Under the bridge…

Here’s another video from a day on the Delaware River. This time, we pass under the Ben Franklin Bridge in glorious black and white. Stay with the video all the way to the end to see the subway train crossing.

That’s a handsome bridge, especially from that angle. I have another one coming in which we’ll pass under the Walt Whitman. Stay tuned.

SS United States in black and white

Was on the river recently and managed to capture some nice video passing the SS United States, where it has been docked for many years now in Philadelphia. Here’s the video:

That’s the fastest trans-Atlantic liner ever. Impressive even in its current sorry state. Wonder what will happen to it. (captured with Nikon D810)
