The Happy Spot opened only a few months ago, in November 2009. In my rambling about the island, I rolled past it, doubled back, and stopped in for an ice-cream. Here’s a photo of the joint.
The Happy Spot is located on the road that leads off the highway from where the old Adventure Golf used to be. Just follow that inland and opposite the Cheng grocery, you’ll this little place on the other side of the road. (For some unkown reason, Aruba refuses to name many of its roads and streets, which makes giving directions difficult, but exploring can be fun. They also do not number buildings sequentially. Perhaps this is what prevents an enemy invasion?)
Nonetheless, much joy was had in the form of a chocolate ice-cream. If you don’t believe me, here’s a photo to prove it.
Notice the pen in pocket, always prepared to jot down some story material. I chatted with the owner for a few minutes. Nice guy. I hope he does well. He explained to me that they also make all sorts of smoothies here. That’s not my thing but by the number of people ordering them, I would say they must be good.
Bon dia.
hello how are you?
thank you very much for your comments .
I remember your visit at my place in front of chang’s by the way I can help you with the streetnames. the most of the addresses don’t have streetnames because we use the name of the district like noord, st.cruz or savaneta and in other cases we use the name of the neighborhood like bubali, tankileendert or paraguana, it will be like this Bubali 7a that’s the address from happy spot. In oranjestad the most of them have streetnames like caya G.F.Betico Croes that’s the main street. We have also an Happy spot in the main street my father started it, that was the first fruit shake bar on the island. when he past away me and my wife took it over. The place exist 16 years now and i own it for 5 years. We work 29 years already with fruits we used to sell fruits, etc. we have win with the best fruit shake in island temptation. I think if you ask any body in aruba for the best shake they will show you the Happyspot in the mainstreet they call it “e kiosk di batido”. we are doing good in bubali, every month it goes better and the best thing is that it’s verry reliable it’s verry steddy. tomorrow we start selling banana split, dame blanche, etc. one more time thank you verry verry much. i hope we see you soon in aruba
Yours sincerely Paul Gibbs (happy spot)
