Grand Duomo Accommodations is apartment style rentals located across the street from the Grand Duomo, as the name implies. We went for the big room with a view and here’s what we saw in the evening from the bedroom window:
Of course, through the other windows you’re looking down at the plaza. It’s worth every penny. The bedroom looks like this:
Plenty of space, plenty of light. There’s a sort of kitchen on the wall, behind doors that open easily for meal prep. Check it out:
I used the little cooktop to make our breakfasts and snacks. The bathroom was large and well appointed:

Finally, on the top floor is a beautiful lounge area with an equally impressive view. Sorry, this photo doesn’t do it justice. Believe me, for evening drinks or an afternoon chat, go up there and relax:
We drank a few bottles of wine and met some people from Lithuania. Was a great time!
Here’s a view I took from the Uffizi Gallery during a tour there. A bit closer this time:
Personally, I like the next one the most. An artist working in watercolor was painting the bridge scene:
Was interesting to walk around the area, getting various views of the bridge and local neighborhood.
The exterior style contrasts greatly with many of the church and cathedrals I saw in Spain, which are typically left the natural color of the cut stone. Let’s go inside:
Another rather plain interior. But don’t miss the clock at the rear of the building:
You can climb to the cupola of the Duomo and also the tower, but I was busy seeing so much else, that I didn’t want to wait in the long line. Here’s a night view, just for fun:
My hotel was across the street from this magnificent structure. Photos to follow soon.
Each wall contains a huge mural.
Looking closer, perhaps you’ll recognize Leonardo and Michaelangelo.
Incredible stuff, among the great works humanity has produced in all of history.
