Michaelangelo’s David

No trip to Florence, Italy, would be complete without seeing Michaelangelo’s David. It is a remarkable statue. Here’s a view of the setting:

Grand Duomo Accommodations, Florence, Italy

Grand Duomo Accommodations is apartment style rentals located across the street from the Grand Duomo, as the name implies. We went for the big room with a view and here’s what we saw in the evening from the bedroom window:

Finally, on the top floor is a beautiful lounge area with an equally impressive view. Sorry, this photo doesn’t do it justice. Believe me, for evening drinks or an afternoon chat, go up there and relax:

Ponte Vecchio, some views

The Ponte Vecchio is one of those famous sites people travel to see as part of any Italy jaunt. Here are some views of it, the first of which is the standard shot:

Duomo, Florence, Italy

Here’s a daylight image of the Duomo in Florence, Italy.

AtpgqUpyTC2Llgkza8CKiQThe exterior style contrasts greatly with many of the church and cathedrals I saw in Spain, which are typically left the natural color of the cut stone. Let’s go inside:

DSC_3494Another rather plain interior. But don’t miss the clock at the rear of the building:

DSC_3493You can climb to the cupola of the Duomo and also the tower, but I was busy seeing so much else, that I didn’t want to wait in the long line. Here’s a night view, just for fun:
