Castilla Termal Valbuena, Spain, Room

The previous post showed the Castilla Termal Valbuena’s pools and common areas. Now, we’ll take a look at one of the rooms. This was a duplex affair, with a lower area fitted with desk, mini bar, and couch that you see in the photo below:

DSC_2848The staircase to the right leads up to the bedroom or sleeping loft as it might be called which feature a large bed, closet space, and the bathroom:

IMG_1819The bathroom was quite modern as the next photo shows:

DSC_2851All the amenities are there from the bathrobe to the shampoo. The Castilla Termal was a fine place to enjoy several days, relaxing and recharging after a jaunt through northern Spain. I hope to return soon.

Castilla Termal Monasterio Valbuena

Looking for a quiet spot to relax and recharge? Castilla Termal Monasterio Valbuena, near Peñafiel, Spain, may be just the spot. This reconstructed monastery is located among the vineyards of Duero River.

DSC_2856You’ll find and indoor, heated pool on the lower level:

IMG_1831Very pleasant view from that pool. The outdoor pool its just beyond the glass.

IMG_1838All sorts of spa treatments are available, from massage to facial to aroma therapy. There are plenty of common areas for a cozy drink or a business meeting.

DSC_2847I’ll post about the rooms next. So check back soon.

Episcopal Palace, Gaudí, Astorga

Also in Astorga, Spain, the Episcopal Palace designed by Gaudí, welcomes visitors. This is a fascinating building that exhibits some of Gaudí’s trademarks yet in a more subtle way.

DSC_2792To the left, in back, you can see the square towers of the Astorga Cathedral. Going inside the Episcopal Palace you’ll find an array of magnificent stained glass windows such as these:

DSC_2785To put them in context, consider these windows in rooms such as this.

DSC_2775There is all the majesty of a cathedral, albeit on that smaller scale. Here’s another room, complete with altar.

DSC_2781And how about this for an office or meeting room:

Creative minds give us spectacular things. No doubt about it.

Delaware Bay Anchorage

We interrupt the postings from Spain for this photo taken on a southbound flight over the Delaware Bay. Look closely and you’ll see ships in the anchorage.

IMG_0022That’s Cape May in the upper left part of the frame. I used to be down there looking up. Now I’m up there looking down. Kind of strange. Thanks to American Airlines for another great flight.
