Tugboat Devon

As long as we’re on the subject of boats, let’s go to one of my favorite categories, the tugboat. Here’s a snap from 1994 of the Devon at the dock in Philadelphia.

Was a perfect morning for that photo, which prints much nicer than it scans for digital use here. Can’t wait to get out and do some old school photography soon. Will be interesting to see the artistic differences.

Philadelphia Fire Boat (circa 2000)

The previous post showed my old Nikon F3 HP. As mentioned, I put many rolls of film through that camera. Some shots were good, others not so much. I happened to be on the Delaware River during OpSail 200o and took this snap of the Philadelphia Fire Boat leading the parade of sailing ships.

The above image is a scan from a negative. A little dusty here and there. Nonetheless, you get the idea of this rugged little craft and it’s capabilities. Will be putting a few more photos up soon. Stay tuned and thanks for watching!

Things found…

Pack rats unite! Open those drawers, closets, and basement doors and take a look at the random things that, for some reason, you decided to keep. Don’t ask me why, but I kept some Mexican money from a trip there back in the early 1990’s.

It would have been smarter to turn that currency into dollars and spend it wisely. Not sure, why, but I kept it, buried deep in a desk drawer. Plenty of other random treasures in there, too. I suppose this is how archaeologists feel when they make a remarkable discovery from a thousand years ago.

Piano practice

As with anything, practice makes perfect. So, after some years away from my piano, I’ve begun again. It is truly a labor of love as playing music can be one of the most rewarding activities of human existence. There are some things that just sound right. Don’t ask me about music theory; I don’t know much about it. But one’s ear doesn’t lie. It sounds right; it is right. The following piece has some lovely chord progressions that I enjoy.

It’ll be many months before I can play this piece to the level I could years ago. It will be fun re-learning it and many others. Play on!
