Coca-Cola Twins

It’s amazing to see the creative ways The Coca-Cola Company markets its legendary elixir. Here’s a pair of “bottles” that are actually made out of aluminum.

These bottles hold about 8.5 ounces, the perfect serving size for a refreshing treat. I can’t imagine what they’ll come up with next, but I’m sure it will be of excellent design and impressive creativity. Enjoy Coca-Cola! Ice-cold of course!

Universal Coverage, the novel…

My novel, Universal Coverage, came out late in 2009. Now with the Supreme Court decision, may I shamelessly recommend this book for those who would like a preview of what’s to come? Go ahead, read it. Won’t hurt a bit. Here’s the cover.

Cover of Daniel Putkowski’s novel, Universal Coverage.

And a brief look at the inside, which gives a peek of the attitude of some people in the story.

As always, you can find the book on Amazon.com where it is also available for Kindle. Happy reading! (But be warned, this book is a lot like 1984.)

Flying is not inherently dangerous, however…

…flying is incredibly unforgiving. So goes the old adage about aviation. If you make a mistake, it will not forgive nor forget. Just yesterday, there was an incident at my home airport in Pennsylvania, USA, where some mistakes were made. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured when a single plane lost control upon landing. The result was quite a bit of damage to some storied aircraft. Take a look at the general scene:

Here’s the aircraft that lost control and crashed.

This aircraft was more or less totally destroyed after being struck.

Pipe tail destroyed when hit by other aircraft.

Again, gracias a dios, no one was severely injured. Sadly, some aircraft are headed for the scrap heap, which is a shame because these planes are beloved by many students and rental pilots. Remember, ALWAYS do your checklist. One of the first items must be: AM I FIT FOR FLYING TODAY? As well as, ARE MY ABILITIES SUITED TO THE CONDITIONS? We all make mistakes because we’re human. Nonetheless, do your best to minimize them, especially when flying.

An Ideal Location?

Here in Aruba, I’ve been thinking about building myself a little writer’s shack to go with my regular shack. This would be a tiny structure, about 8′ X 12′ or so, a place to focus on the writing and avoid the distractions of the refrigerator and such. Then today, I got to thinking a little more about this and was wondering if it might be better to build the thing on a trailer as I’ve seen some of these tiny houses lately. Then I could roll it around, parking it for the day at a location such as this:

Ideal location for a writer’s shack in Aruba?

Heck of a view there from Savaneta, Aruba, DWI or what? So, I could park for the day, get some work done, and then tote the tiny shack back to the bigger shack for the night. Anyway, like many things, it seems like a good idea. You never know.
