Tux (still on patrol)

Tux, the little stray cat that hangs out by shack in Aruba, showed up mere minutes after my arrival on the island. This morning, I found him on the patio chair, awaiting his rations. Here he is:

Tux on the patio chair.

This guy does a darn good job keeping the small varmints away. Hence, he’s in my good graces and entitled to liberal feeding and protection from his nemesis, Ashburn, another cat that prowls the area but is quite mean. Tux and Ashburn got into a few scraps back in March. The fur was flying. Seems like Tux has held his territory this time, with no dents in his small hull. Plus, Tux is a handsome bugger, friendly, too.

Tux returns!

Arrived Aruba and the little stray cat that lives near my house returned in short order. Regular blog readers will remember his name: TUX. He’s a tough one, suffering at the paws of other strays and who knows what else. But he’s on the good food program now and will be bulking up. Here’s a quick video I made to practice with the new software.

Now that I’m in Aruba, I’ll be making some more interesting videos with excellent content. They will feature local characters, some of whom have shown up in my novels. So, stay tuned!

Sasha, Avionics Supervisor

When visiting my local avionics shop the other day, I met Sasha, the shop cat. During the winter months, it seems she prefers the office. Take a look.

She’s settled into her perch there, probably atop the accounts receivable. It’s good to know there’s a cat around to calm the nerves and keep any potential trespassing vermin under control. Special thanks to the good people at Penn Avionics for doing a great job with the instruments in the airplane I fly, and for having such a pleasant cat.

Snow Belly

As mentioned previously, I’m in the process of remodeling a bathroom at my shack in Aruba. Of course, tile is required to cover the walls. One of the supply houses where I purchased some tile has a house cat. They call her “Tiles.”

Tiles is not a very creative name but I give them credit for the effort. I renamed her “Snow Belly.” I mean, check out that fine white fur there. She’s doing a good job, taking out mice and other small creatures, all the while keeping herself in pretty form. You have to celebrate that. And remember, be kind to animals, it’s one of the keys that unlocks the gates of heaven.
