Creative Cocktails

There’s a myriad of cocktails out there, some of which are off the charts good. While traveling the world, it’s interesting to try what the local bars conjur up. Here’s one that caught my eye, the Anythm Spirit at Gray’s in Franklin, Tennessee, USA.

Now that you know what’s in the drink, here’s a look at the finished product.

Quite tasty that was, in fact, it tasted like several more, enjoyed in a casual, friendly atmosphere, with some great music on stage, too. Note that Gray’s states they serve, “cocktails, spirits, tonics, remedies,” they are serious.

Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint

Rolled into Nolensville, Tennessee, USA on a mission for some quality BBQ. Martin’s is right there on the main road, easy to find with lots of parking.

imageOutside I spot this mobile smoker, which can easily accommodate an entire hog. Surely a sign of quality on the way.

imageInside there’s plenty of seating with the scent of juicy meats in the air.

And here’s a look at the brisket platter with two sides.

Tasty, with a unique sauce amping up the flavor, Martin’s delivers. Check it out when you’re in the area.

Walter Trout, guitar wizard

Had the pleasure of seeing Walter Trout and his band perform at Music City Roots, broadcast live from Franklin, TN. What a set! That’s him on the left of the photo below.

He began and ended the set with an incredible amount of energy, which is amazing for a guy who nearly died a couple of years ago. His skill with the guitar is impressive and creative. If you like the blues and guitar wizardry in general, be sure to check him out.

Jack’s B-B-Q, Nashville, USA

Well, I thought I had the best brisket platter in my life a couple of times. In Texas, in the Carolinas, even in Aruba, I’ve had some darn good brisket. And then, I arrived in Nashville and went to Jack’s on Broadway, where all the music joints are located.

Just walking in this joint, I knew it was going to be good. The delicious aroma was the first giveaway, as was the line, as were the smiles on everyone’s faces. Here’s a look at the interior:

So, I belly up to the buffet line and order a mixed meat platter as well as a brisket platter. Sides included baked beans, cole slaw, mac and cheese, et al. See the photo below:

The first bite of brisket was truly a WOW moment. Cooked low and slow with the right amount of smoke and love, that brisket topped my taste bud chart by far. The other meats, smoked sausage and ribs were darn good, too. I could see myself becoming a regular at this joint. Better renew my gym membership while I’m at it.
