The crowds at the Pantheon jostled me, causing an out of focus exterior photo that I was unaware of until later. Quite a disappointment. However, my interior shots came out okay.
Entering through the massive doors is quite an experience, diminished by the surge of people.
Still an impressive structure built by the Romans and later converted to a Catholic facility.
Here’s that out of focus exterior shot, just for fun.

Like many famous public sites in Rome, the Trevi Fountain can be crowded to the point where taking a decent photo is practically impossible. I managed to snap this one on a lucky afternoon.
I went back early in the morning a few days later and tried again:
The light wasn’t as good, hence the grey-looking statuary. However, on that same morning I saw a photographer working with a couple of models featuring wedding attire:
If you’re going to visit this site, do it early, then go to breakfast.
Saint Peter’s Basilica features a limitless number of opportunities to take great photos. Of the many I took, this is my favorite so I put it here first in the post:
The light was perfect and the light is what matters most in any photograph. Going back to the beginning, here’s a view from outside:
People line up to enter the basilica. We were lucky to avoid that line by entering via another tour. Going back inside, don’t miss the statue of Saint Peter, worn by millions of people touching his foot:
The interior of this massive structure will impress and amaze:
No doubt about it:
It was pleasant inside as nearly all visitors show great respect for the site:
Linger as long as you can. There’s plenty to see.

I was fortunate to have the early morning “Waking the Vatican” tour when photos were permitted. It was worth arriving on-site at 5:45 AM. I’d do it again and pay the price to view this magnificent art work. Coming soon: A post from inside St. Peter’s.
