A drink at Charlie’s, Aruba, video

Still working with the iPhone 6 and that video app. The app is actually more challenging than the iMovie version that comes with the iPhone, which is a disappointment. Still there is some functionality such as exposure control and such that is better. Anyway, here’s a drink at Charlie’s Bar in San Nicolaas, Aruba, DWI.

I hope to get better with this app soon. It is convenient to upload directly from the iPhone. Make blogging a bit more immediate and fun. Still, needs some work and practice. Stay tuned for the results.

Looking over Savaneta, Aruba (video 2014)

I was out gathering sound EFX and stock footage recently and was atop the water tank hill in Savaneta, Aruba. Here’s just a quick look from San Nicolaas to the south, panning past Savaneta toward Pos Chikito.

Beautiful view from up there. Windy, too. So, if you visit that spot, be careful. Bon dia.

Love at first sight? (Aruba c. 2002?)

As mentioned in the previous post, I was going through my photo archives. I stumbled onto this one, an absolute favorite taken with my old Nikon F3. The location is Charlie’s Bar, San Nicolaas, Aruba. I remember turning from my drink at the bar and seeing this little girl look at Chavez the Cat and Chavez looking at her. Here it is (a photo of a photo):

That is a photo of a print, which actually gives it a more archival feel, like a photo from many, many years ago. I’m fairly certain that I took this in 2002. I was using film back then, film by the mile actually. There’s boundless emotion in this little scene. I only wish I could find the negative and make more prints.

Friends at Charlie’s Bar

As regular Bent Page readers know, Charlie’s Bar in San Nicolaas, Aruba, is one of my regular haunts. I’ve done tons of writing and socializing there. With good reason, too, because plenty of people pass by. This week, Virginia Madsen and Nick Holmes stopped in to enjoy the ambience and a chat with yours truly.

We told stories, enjoyed some food and drink, and of course made plans to return. So it is in Aruba. See you there soon!
