Marsha Brown’s (video review)

Marsha Brown’s Restaurant is located in the center of New Hope, PA, USA. It’s a great restaurant for both lunch and dinner. The bar is also an enticing venue for people watching, particularly on Friday and Saturday nights as it is a watering hole for an eclectic crowd. Here’s my video review showing a recent lunch.

Hungry? I am. The meal was tasty and served up by a friendly staff. In particular, I find the bartenders here to be good at engaging the guest, keeping things moving, and serving up an honest pour. That’s the way I like it.

Back Roads Spain, review

Back Roads Spain is a book published by DK Eyewitness Travel. I’ve used their travel books many times, especially when planning my trips to the Iberian Peninsula. The “back roads” collection is designed to take the traveller a little deeper in-country, something that is right up my alley. Here’s a brief video review of the book:

Let me emphasize the photographs and illustrations in this book. The street maps show a walking tour with sites of interest highlighted. Sometimes there are three dimensional renderings of a cathedral or winery, which prove irresistible. You want to see the real thing after peering into such well-presented images. The driving routes definitely take you into the countryside, which, having driven extensively in Spain, can be frustrating. However, with a decent guide and fair warning of what to expect, you’re sure to enjoy yourself.

Pierogies!

Pierogies are a favorite of mine. I like them sauteed in a pan with butter and onions, the perfect way to make a whole range of food items. Recently, I found myself in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, USA and there’s a restaurant there known as Hotel Switzerland, directly across the street from the Carbon County Courthouse. In I go, hankering for pierogies and here’s what I got.

Exactly what I ordered! Tasty and hot, I scarfed these down in record time. Here’s a look at the bar.

Nice place to have a drink and a few words with your pals. Sometimes you’ll overhear some gossip from the nearby court house, but I’m not admitting I ever eavesdropped like that. Just sayin’. I’ll be posting more about Jim Thorpe, including some video soon. There’s plenty to see and do in this small town. A nice day trip with the family if you’re not too far away. Keep your eyes peeled to The Bent Page.

Aruba to Miami

As a frequent visitor to Aruba, I fly a regular route between Miami and my favorite island. I made this video of the return trip, showing the takeoff, a view of Aruba from above, and then the landing in Miami. Take a look, and don’t forget, it’s in full 1080 HD for you full screen junkies.

It was a great flight, especially the first few minutes, looking down at the island, seeing all the sights from on high. Those puffy clouds didn’t really get in the way. Once again, I’d like to thank American Airlines for carrying my safely along this route. We’ve been traveling together for more than 17 years.
