Styling in Aruba

With a bunch of pending book events, it was time to get some manscaping done. For the past nine months or so, I’ve been going to this little shop at the Playa Linda here in Aruba. You’ll recognize it from this photo:

A very nice Colombian lady works here so Spanish skills are helpful. If not, lots of smiles and hand gestures will do the trick. At any rate, she spends nearly an hour raking through my sticks, rendering me much more presentable than prior to this action. I didn’t think I had enough hair on my head for someone to work at it this long. Nonetheless, I’m all set and for a reasonable price. (For you ladies out there, you can have your nails done here and a number of other things. Stop by to see what’s on offer.)

Bon dia from Aruba.

An Ideal Location?

Here in Aruba, I’ve been thinking about building myself a little writer’s shack to go with my regular shack. This would be a tiny structure, about 8′ X 12′ or so, a place to focus on the writing and avoid the distractions of the refrigerator and such. Then today, I got to thinking a little more about this and was wondering if it might be better to build the thing on a trailer as I’ve seen some of these tiny houses lately. Then I could roll it around, parking it for the day at a location such as this:

Heck of a view there from Savaneta, Aruba, DWI or what? So, I could park for the day, get some work done, and then tote the tiny shack back to the bigger shack for the night. Anyway, like many things, it seems like a good idea. You never know.

View from the Gym, Aruba

Despite consuming copious amounts of food as depicted in previous posts, I’ve been exercising very regularly. Here in Aruba, I stop by the gym along L.G. Smith Boulevard, that has one heck of a view from the treadmills and elliptical training machines. Take a look.

Yeah, that’s the Caribbean out there with a little stretch of beach. The only thing is, you can’t allow yourself to be distracted while you’re working out. The crystal blue water will do that from time to time. At any rate, I’m enjoying the exercise, keeping the belly to reasonable proportions, and generally improving my health. Be well and bon dia from Aruba.

Inland Anchor

Near Santa Cruz, Aruba, DWI, you’ll find this giant old anchor. What’s new is the QR poster attached to it.

Anchor and QR code at Santa Cruz, Aruba

Not sure where the QR codes sends you. I don’t have my iPhone here to scan it. This location is quite a distance and altitude from the sea. Just goes to show, you never know what you’ll find on a small island in a big world. It’s also good to have landmarks like this in a place where the road signs are not the best. Bon dia.
