Tabla Ibérica

The Tabla Ibérica represents a classic dish from Spain. It features meats and cheeses that are all delicious on their own. Together, they’re a culinary delight. Here’s an example I enjoyed recently:

Wow, what a feed! Fortunately, this was shared with other people as part of a great meal. If there’s one thing the Spanish have mastered, it is cured meats. Enjoy this with a favorite wine and you’re good to go. Tan bueno!

Ham and Eggs deluxe!

Here’s a photo from a recent trip to Spain. You have the beloved jamón iberico and two fried eggs with a few chunks of garlic.

I enjoyed this delicious meal in the tiny town of La Parra, Spain. Simple can be better and certainly delicious. Enjoy every meal.

Alma de Julián Becerro, Madrid

On Calle Cava Baja in Madrid, among all those wondering tapas joints, you’ll find Alma de Julián Becerro, a shop par excellence for some of the best jamón in all of Spain.

Inside there are many varieties of jamón to purchase in different price ranges.

There’s always a skilled and knowledgeable fellow there ready to give you information about the meats as well as to slice them for you, perhaps from this selection in the middle of the store:

Or, you might choose a pre-sliced pack from the case such as one of these:

Don’t forget to select a delicious bottle of wine. There are so many good foods to choose from in Spain that you’ll find yourself wanting to stay for a long, long time.

Jaime Beriestain, restaurant, Barcelona, Spain

Jaime Beriestain Restaurant sports an upscale, cool vibe, with many dishes you’ll recognize, yet they have an updated flair. Here’s a look at the exterior with seating on the sidewalk:

The green salad you see next was bursting with flavor and the crunch of fresh vegetables:

And here’s their take on patatas bravas:

There were two sauces for the patatas bravas. I though the red one needed more zing. Then there was the plate of jamón iberico, which was very good indeed:

Service was generally detached and inattentive. I would have appreciated better service. However, the food is very creative, including the sweets that are worth tasting and maybe taking some home:

If you’re looking for a creative meal, this may be the place, if you don’t mind waiters who may be otherwise occupied.
