Hyatt, Aruba, Aerial

People ask me about hotels in Aruba, where they are, what the complexes are like, and so forth. There’s nothing better than an aerial photo to put it all in perspective. Here’s a look at the Hyatt Hotel as seen from above:

You see how the hotel structure wraps around the pools, bars, and restaurants. In the lower left corner is a favorite bar of mine. I used to linger there for hours, writing and drinking. Just above that is the restaurant area where they serve a very good Sunday Brunch. The Japengo Restaurant is open in the evening, serving creative dishes for those with exotic tastes. Of course, the pools are lots of fun. Don’t miss the slide on the lower right side of the frame. Just off the bottom of the photo is the beach. Everything you need is right there.

A Wedding Message

A friend of mine sent me the sample of this wedding video, which was made in Aruba. Listen closely to the words from Reverend Robert Gibson.

That’s an extremely important message backing up a wonderfully produced video. Best of luck to the happy couple. If you’re going to get married in Aruba, I highly recommend Rev. Gibson. This is just a small sample of his quality marriage service.

Cathedral in the Sand, Aruba

Walking Palm Beach on a Sunday morning in Aruba, you may find some ambitious sculptors at work. Some photos have been posted before, but this one is probably the most impressive to date. This fellow created a beautiful cathedral using nothing but the sand from the beach.

When we arrived on the scene, he was putting the finishing touches on one of the wings. Let’s go in for a closer look.

This creation has all the majesty of the real thing. The fellow who made it has a very steady hand because those open spaces had to be carved out and one slip would have sent the wall tumbling. The sad part is the sea will wash it all away. Still, a beautiful presentation while it lasts.

The Sign Says…

…Boston to Aruba. NO SNOW TO SHOVEL.

I can only imagine who put this sign up on Palm Beach, Aruba. Probably a guy who had it with the cold and snow. Can’t blame him, can you? Still, there is sunburn and hangovers to worry about. It’s not all rainbows and lollipops in the Caribbean. Or maybe it is…
