Helicopters, big and small

There’s been a bunch of helicopter activity at my local airport. In the photo below, you’ll see one which is a vintage bird capable of lifting some serious weight. The smaller one will carry only two people and does mostly training work.

It’s amazing what helicopters can do, from fire fighting and medical transport to heavy lift and corporate transport. They’re challenging machines to fly, requiring quite a bit of coordination. Here’s a look at the pilot’s window:

Stop by your local airport for an introductory flight, or just go for a ride. Either way, it’ll be a thrill like no other.

Trattoria San Nicola, Paoli

Enjoyed a tasty lunch at Trattoria San Nicola in Paoli, PA, USA. Of course, this is an Italian spot, one I’ve passed many times. At last, stopped in and was impressed by both the food and service. Started with some salads, one a simple mixed greens you see here:

The other salad featured roasted peppers and sun-dried tomatoes that you see next:

Moving on to the entrees, let’s begin with the grilled swordfish that you see here:

And finally, a tried and true veal parm with veggies on the side:

Service for the whole meal was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. I look forward to returning to San Nicola for a supper to try other dishes and maybe some wine. There’s ample parking and the place is easy to find along Route 30. Enjoy every meal. (Next time I’ll be sure to take the Nikon 1 AW to snap photos. These were taken with the iPhone and leave much to be desired.)

West Chester Restaurant Festival

West Chester, PA (USA) hosts a fantastic restaurant festival. And who doesn’t love a great meal? Wandered the streets for several hours, meeting friends from my regular joints like The Classic Diner.

They had Belgian Waffles there as you can see in the next photo:

There were other stands, too, with everything from homemade soft drinks to pasta to baked goods to smoked meats.

Speaking of which, I needed a brisket fix and connected with this sandwich, which had me enjoying in a serious way:

This was a great festival with crafts, live music, and plenty of friendly people. I only wish I could eat more. See you next year. Enjoy ever meal in between.

Beach Tennis Aruba

Beach tennis is hugely popular in Aruba. Beach Tennis Aruba operates a club located at the Tropicana Resort, in the low-rise area. Easy to find. Here’s a look at the entrance:

That’s an inviting entrance. Inside you’ll find plenty of sand courts like these:

Of course you’ll find a shop inside selling the latest equipment to enjoy the sport.
