La Porta for Lunch

I stop by La Porta in Media, PA for nice Sunday lunches. They have a creative menu, great bartenders, and a comfortable atmosphere. A treat that is worth the calories is the giant meatball. Take a look:

Lots of flavor there and perfectly cooked, as a snack or an appetizer that beast will hit the spot. They usually have some specials, such as this ravioli:

Wow, that plate was bursting with flavor. And there there’s the pizza:

Made to order in a real pizza oven, the thin crust is done just right. I’ve been known to pop in here just for a pizza, and it’s worth it. So if you’re in the area and hungry, try this place out. I might be there. Enjoy every meal.

Swarthmore Food Truckathon

For several years in a row, Swarthmore Co-Op has hosted a food truckathon. This year, I checked it out and was glad I did! Great food. Fun. All in one square block. Here’s the video:

Wow! Now I need to head back to the gym and burn all that off. Enjoy every meal.

La Porta (restaurant, 2014)

La Porta is a new find for me, a little place in the Philadelphia suburbs that I wish I had stumbled into sooner. The restaurant has a Media, PA address, and is located on Route 352 on the way to Edgemont. Not hard to find and exploring is half the fun. So, let’s talk about the food. Well, started with a couple of appetizers, one being this portabello mushroom topped with a fried egg that was a creative and tasty treat. Take a look:

Also had a delicious and varied chop salad with all my favorite ingredients including golden raisins, almonds, and more! Here it is:

Greens are good for you. Eat them often! Next we enjoyed a couple of entrees, one being this salmon over various greens:

Yes, that salmon was cooked perfectly. Then there was a pizza, which had to be tried because this place is known for pizza. Take a look:

This pizza was a special. It included caramelized onions, some exotic cheeses, and a great sauce. AND, it was baked to absolute perfection with just a touch of char on the bottom. Really, some of the best pizza I’ve had in a decade. Here’s the menu for a look at the selections and prices:

La Porta is worth your visit. Service is good, wine selection plentiful, and the food terrific. If you’re in the area, give it a try, or make the journey. Enjoy every meal!

Lulu’s Pizza Bar

If you’re on the east side of center city Philadelphia and you need a snack, try Lulu’s Pizza Bar. It’s located between 2nd and 3rd Streets on the south side of Market Street. They have affordable specials, like a couple slices and a Coke for around $7 at the time of this writing. Here’s a look at the pizza:

It was great pizza with friendly service and no waiting. I like popping into these joints, listening to the conversations, which is a great way to pick up dialog for the books I write. Incredible what people say to each other. At any rate, a slice of pizza hits the rights spot, so give it a try.
