Bavaria German Restaurant, Aruba (2014)

I usually stop in to Bavaria German Restaurant during each visit to Aruba. Bavaria serves up all your German food favorites with plenty of beer choices as well. Owner Peter and his team are happy to explain the different beers, so don’t be afraid to ask. I tried a couple, including this one:

Of course I wanted to have a typical German meal and went with the bratwurst, mashed potatoes, and red cabbage that you see next:

The spicy mustard really makes the taste pop. Indulge liberally in that. The prices here are excellent, giving you good value for your money, within sight of the big hotels on Palm Beach. During the meal, I had a very interesting conversation, learning things about Germany and that part of Europe. Enjoy every meal!

Gathering Sound EFX

A few years ago, I purchased the ZOOM H4n digital recorder. What a fantastic device! I’ve used it on countless video projects, everything from music videos to vlog studio work, the whole range. Lately, I’ve been out gathering sound EFX, building a library of original sounds for use in current and future endeavors. Here you see me atop the water tank hill in Savaneta, Aruba, DWI:

For such a small, lightweight device, the H4n works like a dream. Multiple inputs, recording modes, and a pair of built in stereo mics. Really, this is a requirement for any production. Get one. Use it. Enjoy the beauty of sound.

The Departure Board

It can be a true pleasure to stand in the airport, looking at the departure board, and thinking, “Hmmm… maybe I’ll go there.”

Digital departure board offers possibilities.

Traveling has it challenges, but it has many more rewards. There are opportunities out there, some far, some near. Be sure to check them out. You never know what you might discover about the world and yourself.

Kloster Andechs Dunkel

I wanted to try another beer from the Andechs Monastery. That last doppelbock dunkel was mighty tasty. So, I went with the weissbeir dunkel (minus the doppelbock part). Here it is:

I poured it a little too fast. Still, the head on this beer was frothy good, kind of a like preview of the show. And the show was smooth, a bit creamy, lots of body, and deeply flavorful. This beer thing might get to be a regular feature here at The Bent Page. Soon I’ll be visiting with some German friends who have native beers at their fingertips. Uh, oh!
