Windmills, Aruba, video

Several years ago, a string of windmills was erected in the Vader Pete area on the southern end of the island of Aruba. They produce electricity thanks to the steady trade winds. Here’s a quick video look.

They were built by Vestas and I think each one has a capacity of about 1 megawatt. Thanks to the trade winds they work almost constantly. Bon dia.

Zany Folk Art, Aruba

Driving around Aruba, you’ll find some zany folk art, sort of off-the-cuff displays of things. Check this one out:

King of whacky but interesting in an odd way. It’s fun to roam about, off the beaten path, discovering things like this. You’ll never know what you’ll find.

Kitesurfing, Aruba, iPhone video

With Aruba’s fantastic winds, kitesurfing is a very popular sport here. On the south end of the island is a great spot where you can catch both the wind and some waves. Warning: Not for the timid! Here’s some iPhone 6 video showing you a few people riding the sea.

Be careful on this part of the island. The wind and waves can be a challenge. Still, it is an exciting sport and Aruba is one of the best places in the world to do it. Bon dia.

Shoarma Platter, Aruba, iPhone video

The Sultan is one of my favorite local joints in Aruba. Yes, I have lots of favorites on the island. This one stands out for being a bit exotic in terms of cuisine on the island. Here’s a video look at the chicken shoarma platter.

That’s a tasty platter and nutritious, too. The price can’t be beat either. Stop in here for all your Arab foods. They do a great job. Bon dia.
