Tuxer is a stray cat that shows up here at my shack in Aruba from time to time. He’s a regular visitor on an irregular schedule. He likes to take a nap on my patio, a drink from the water I put out for him, and an occasional snack, too. From the photo below, you can see how he got his name.
His black and white coat is just like a tuxedo. Those white shoes would be a big hit at a wedding celebration near you.
I feature cats in all my novels. For An Island Away, it was Screwball. In Bonk’s Bar, it was Larry. And in Universal Coverage, there is one named Marvin. I haven’t settled on the name for the cat in the new book I’m working on. But it’ll come. Maybe it will be Tuxer.
Bon dia.
That look on his face tells us all we need to know. Mr. Hammer does not like to be disturbed, and who can blame him? He’s got the run of the Savaneta neighborhood. There’s plenty of places for him to stretch out in the sun. Lots of lizards and other small creatures to chase (and dare I say, feast upon?). Plus, he lives on the other side of the wall, in a place all his own. He won’t let you get close without a hiss or growl, so it’s best to leave him to his own devices and move on. I think he’s forgotten that he lives on One Happy Island.
I see these two most every day here in Savaneta. They lounge during the day then prowl all night. That’s how they get into trouble. These two characters look a little mean; wouldn’t mess with them as they’re probably a tag team in a brawl.
