Joséphine, Barcelona (restaurant)

Located in an upscale neighborhood on Pau Claris, Joséphine delivers atmosphere from a bygone age, complete with live music, fine food, and a great bar.

Seating inside and out provides options for all. I took a seat inside for supper one evening.

Tasty and well-presented food arrives thanks to a friendly staff. I tried a special of the night, which was a tenderloin served atop hot coals with artichokes and peppers:

This dish was excellent because the coals stayed hot for quite a while, enabling me to let the meat cook to exactly my style. Of course, dessert was a must. Take a look at this chocolate cake and ice-cream:

As sometimes happens, I was too busy eating and talking to photograph the starter salads, one Caesar, one mixed, both fresh, crispy, and delicious. Had a few cocktails after the meal while enjoying a woman singer who provided entertainment. And the people watching here is another bonus. A great experience while visiting Barcelona.

Jaime Beriestain, restaurant, Barcelona, Spain

Jaime Beriestain Restaurant sports an upscale, cool vibe, with many dishes you’ll recognize, yet they have an updated flair. Here’s a look at the exterior with seating on the sidewalk:

The green salad you see next was bursting with flavor and the crunch of fresh vegetables:

And here’s their take on patatas bravas:

There were two sauces for the patatas bravas. I though the red one needed more zing. Then there was the plate of jamón iberico, which was very good indeed:

Service was generally detached and inattentive. I would have appreciated better service. However, the food is very creative, including the sweets that are worth tasting and maybe taking some home:

If you’re looking for a creative meal, this may be the place, if you don’t mind waiters who may be otherwise occupied.

Along the beach, Barcelona, Spain

While in Barcelona, it’s fun to simply stroll along the promenade that fronts the beach. Here people come to exercise, take a dip in the ocean, to see and be seen.

There are also several marinas and yacht basins where you can tie up your boat or check out those belonging to others.

You’ll also find the W Hotel. Here’s the long view of it in the distance:

There are plenty of places to eat and drink as well. Here’s a look at one:

Of course there are many others, so you’ll have plenty of options for food. Here’s a close look at the W Hotel thanks to my wide angle lens:

I ended my walk at this spot because it’s a convenient place to get a taxi. While traveling, be sure to do plenty of sightseeing on foot.

Hotel Claris, rooftop

During my recent stay at the Hotel Claris in Barcelona, I availed myself of the rooftop amenities. There’s nothing like a pool with a view, and this one qualifies:

After a day of meandering about the city, what a pleasure to come back, don the swim trunks and take a dip! But, there’s more, such as a gym with a few pieces of equipment to help burn off those calories:

Now, let’s say you want to have a little get together with family, friends, or business associates. There’s a great space atop this hotel for just such a gathering:

Of course there is a bar with covered and outdoor seating as well:

These rooftop amenities make the Hotel Claris a wonderful place to stay, offering a variety of options for you to enjoy while visiting Barcelona. Enjoy it all.
