(un) Lucky Fish, Zeerover, Aruba

I stopped into Zeerover yesterday looking for some friends. In the well, I found some fish on the slab ready for the filet knife. Check them out:

In a matter of minutes, these fished were sliced into pieces. The crabs, pelicans, and one happy cat were feasting on the remnants. Of course, the crowd was thrilled, too. Doesn’t get any fresher than that. Enjoy your visit to Aruba, and check out places like this for a visit to the Caribbean as it always was, and still is.

A place to recharge!

Here’s another photo from one of my favorite spots in Aruba, DWI. It’s on the dock at Zeerover, a little fisherman’s wharf. You can have a snack, a beverage, and take in the view. Have a look:

As we say, on this side of the bridge, it’s still the Caribbean. Enjoy respectfully.

A Favorite Combo!

Arrived safely in Aruba and promptly set off for one of my favorite combos: Coca-Cola and the Bandeja Paisa platter as prepared at Casa Vieja. Here’s the photographic evidence:

With a banner like that on display, you have to stop in for an ice-cold Coca-Cola. And so I did, pairing it with the magnificent Bandeja Paisa tray as seen here:

That my dear friends is one BIG feed. Ate most of all of it due to the skipping of breakfast in preparation to consume large. Naturally, did not have supper. Anyway, more photos and videos coming from Aruba, so stay tuned here at The Bent Page. Bon did from Aruba!

Rancho Josey Snack, Aruba

Rancho Josey Snack used to be called Little Josey Snack, and it was a LITTLE joint. In fact, it was about eight by eight feet square with a small awning over a few chairs. The new owner has expanded, but it’s still tiny. I like these kind of places to stop in for a cold drink and a chat. So, here’s a video showing how to get there and an introduction to one my local friends.

It doesn’t get more local than that. And remember, Rancho Josey is on the same road (just further along) as the Savaneta Water Tank, where I showed you that great view a few posts ago. Maybe you can check out them both on the same ride. By the way, don’t ask me why they call it “rancho.”  I forgot to ask the owner when I saw him today. A good reason to go back!
