Rincón Criollo, Aruba (video 2014)

Restaurante Rincón Criollo is a great joint for lunch or supper, especially if you’re passing through Savaneta, Aruba, perhaps on your way back and forth to Baby Beach. You’ll find all your favorite Cuban dishes on the menu at prices that will keep you on budget. I stopped in for the carne a la plancha and here’s the video showing you all the details:

Owner Enrique is a great guy who will make sure you enjoy the meal. Enjoy the other side of the bridge and head out to places like this for a taste of Aruba’s local flavor. Enjoy every meal. Bon dia.

Hollywood Smokehouse, Aruba, (2014)

Way back when, I posted about the Hollywood Smokehouse when it was located in San Nicolaas, Aruba. Well, it’s moved. Now it is located in the pedestrian mall adjacent to the Alhambra Casino, which is much closer to all of you on that side of the bridge.

All of your favorites dishes are on the menu, and here’s a look at the menu in case you are unfamiliar:

And here’s the other side:

Those are fair prices for this side of the bridge. There’s also a well-stocked bar with all your favorite beverages, so plan to stick around. Here’s a look at the brisket platter, which is my choice:

There’s plenty of other tasty selections so stop back frequently and try them all. Bon dia!

Bavaria Restaurant, Aruba (Feb. 2014)

Bavaria Restaurant is a unique spot in Aruba, a rare German restaurant among all the other eateries. I’ve been here several times before. The food, hospitality, and beer selection are all consistent. Let me repeat, if you like German beer, you’ll find it here, such as this example:

As mentioned above, the food is authentically German, such as a potato pancake appetizer.

Or maybe you’d like to have a real pretzel with mustard like this one:

There are a nice selection of entrees, including this mixed sausage platter with red cabbage and mashed potatoes.

So, when you’re on the island and hankering for the different, give Bavaria a try. The people are friendly, the food good, and the prices very reasonable. You’ll also find some zany decor, including cuckoo clocks and various scenes from Bavaria. Enjoy!

:30 Chicken Shoarma Platter (Aruba)

I’ve posted about Sultan restaurant in Aruba several times before. This place has been very consistent over the years. Furthermore, in keeping with my shorter videos, I made this :30 one showing you my favorite dish, the chicken shoarma platter.

I’ve heard this place will be under new ownership soon, but with the same kitchen staff. If there are any major changes, I’ll update with another video, hopefully with an interview to gain some insight. Bon dia.
