You’ll find Shoco Snack on Schotlandstraat between Ling’s Grocery and the Sasaki Texaco.

This is a local joint, mostly take-away, but there are a few seats at the counter where you can enjoy your snack and read Diario, the local newspaper.

The food here is local, simple, hearty fare. The prices are reasonable, meaning currently you’ll spend about 20 florins or less for a platter like you see below.

Of course, each day they have a few specials. I recommend going early for lunch to get your selection. Below is the grilled chicken platter.

There’s plenty of food there, enough rice for 3 people underneath the chicken. This might be an easy alternative for a quick meal during your stay. Bon dia.

La Porta for Lunch

I stop by La Porta in Media, PA for nice Sunday lunches. They have a creative menu, great bartenders, and a comfortable atmosphere. A treat that is worth the calories is the giant meatball. Take a look:

Lots of flavor there and perfectly cooked, as a snack or an appetizer that beast will hit the spot. They usually have some specials, such as this ravioli:

Wow, that plate was bursting with flavor. And there there’s the pizza:

Made to order in a real pizza oven, the thin crust is done just right. I’ve been known to pop in here just for a pizza, and it’s worth it. So if you’re in the area and hungry, try this place out. I might be there. Enjoy every meal.

French Cannoli w/Almonds

Been a long time since I posted about Rocco’s Pastry Shop on Bleeker Street in New York City. Regular readers of The Bent Page might remember this place has been a favorite of mine since 1986. Wow, closing in on 30 years of pastry and coffee. At any rate, stopped in recently and enjoyed a wonderful French cannoli with almonds as seen below:

That, my friends, is a delicious pastry. Of course, Rocco’s makes many more delectable desserts and coffees. It’s hard to resist and worth busting the diet. Enjoy every meal!

Cheeseburger!

Sometimes you crave those comfort foods that really hit the spot. For me, it too often is the cheeseburger, as you see in this glorious example:

And check out those onion rings, perfectly battered and fried. Wow. All this, and more, enjoyed with ice-cold Coca-Cola at The Classic Diner, Malvern, PA, USA>
