Lomito, Aruba, video

One of my favorite Colombian restaurants on the the island of Aruba is The New Pueblito Paisa located in San Nicolaas. And, a favorite meal is the lomito. Here’s a short video:

That’s a tasty dish served at a great price by friendly people. They have many other Colombian style meals there, including delicious soups. Stop in and try it. Bon dia.

Aruba BBQ, iPhone 6, video

I know today is Tuesday, but I needed some time to recover from the massive Sunday BBQ feast here in Aruba. It’s usually a take-out meal, but I like to enjoy it fresh from the grill.

That’s quite a plate of food. You get about 1/3 of a chicken, some ribs, fried rice, cole slaw, and corn on the cob. All for the one low price (at the time of this post) of 15 florins. Call it US$ 8.50 or so. What a deal! There are many places in Aruba that serve the Sunday BBQ feast, this one was at Great Rich Restaurant in Paradera, which is my favorite. Enjoy every meal. And eat slowly; it’s better for you.

Barbacoa, Ardmore, PA, USA

Barbacoa serves up your favorite smoked and/or roasted meats. Everything from chicken to pulled pork to brisket is on the menu, along with all the sides you love, including mac and cheese, fries, slaw, and the works. As you can see in the next photo, this is a small joint where you can BYOB.

Inside you find several tables for 2 and 4 persons. They also do take out, satisfying that need for a party or social gathering. Let’s take a look at the 1/2 pound brisket platter:

That is more than enough for two people to share, especially if you add some sides. And here is the salmon burger:

What a feed! Seriously, this was a hearty meal at a very fair price served by friendly staff. I’ll be back here often.

Loveless Cafe, 2014

The Loveless Cafe is an institution from the 1950’s that still serves country favorites, drawing people from around the USA and the world. Located just west of Nashville, Tennessee, you’ll find friendly service as well as lots of tasty menu options.

Of course, this place is famous for it’s biscuits. They’re light, fluffy, delicious. Check them out here:

The homemade preserves really hit the spot, too! Try them all. You can also buy them to take home. Now, here’s the fried chicken, the 1/4 white version:

Wow, what a feed! That coleslaw was also perfect. As you can see, a variety of sides round out this meal. Don’t forget the local beer. Prices are reasonable so don’t worry about the budget. Loveless Cafe is that rare joint that has grown over the years but retains its charm and dignity. Give it a try as soon as you can. I overheard staff talking about smoked ribs with watermelon sauce. I might be driving back there tomorrow.
