The Full English (breakfast that is)

When in Rome… as the saying goes. So, while in England, I avail myself of the “Full English Breakfast” at the cozy little hotel where I spend some nights. Of course, there are some slight variations to this, but here’s a photo of the quintessential example:

As you can see, that’s quite a plate of food. Baked beans, fried egg, grilled tomato, bacon and sausage on the plate. Then toast, marmalade, juice, and coffee on the side. All this either fuels or conspires against a productive day. Depends on what you’re about. Either way, quite a lot of food. Enjoy every meal.

American Airlines Flight 56 (meals)

Continuing my journey that began with the meals you saw in the previous post, I enjoyed several more meals above 30,000 feet. Thanks to frequent flier miles, I was able to sit up front aboard American Airlines Flight 56, where the seating was spacious and service outstanding. So, let’s get on with those meals.

First came the champagne and warm nuts as you see in the next photo:

As you can see, I already polished off those mixed nuts. Next came more champagne with a little starter that was very, very good.

Then came an appetizer of Thai chicken with fruit that was extremely tasty as well as a flavorful corn chowder. Check it out in the photo below:

Of course it is important to have your greens. Hence, a fresh salad with the balsamic vinegar dressing you see here:

And finally the entree:

This was a grilled chicken with asparagus and tomatoes with a sort of potato pancake on the side. All great. After eating all this, I had no room for dessert. However, a bit later in this flight, there was a nice spread of snacks put out. Here it is:

All kinds of stuff there: Fresh fruit, crackers, cheese, sweets, much of which I enjoyed before going to sleep for the rest of the flight. I can’t say enough good things about the service aboard this flight. Cabin staff and crew did a wonderful job of making sure everyone was comfortable and enjoying the flight. Thanks again, American Airlines.

The Continental, Philadelphia

Enjoyed a tasty business lunch at The Continental in Philadelphia. The restaurant is on the corner of 2nd and Market Streets, in the vicinity of several people with whom a do a lot business. So, it is a logical location. We were in a bit of hurry but hungry. Sat down at 1PM and by 1:15 we were eating. Service here is on top of everything. A couple of cups of minestrone (the soup of the day) and a grilled chicken melt with salad you see here:

Also a club sandwich that you see next:

Decent atmosphere here, especially if you get a booth by the windows from which you can watch the action in the street. Pay attention to business, but enjoy the meal. You can do both at The Continental, which is why I stop in here on a regular basis.

Hickory Kitchen, Doylestown, PA, USA

What a great little joint for excellent BBQ! Hickory Kitchen is located in the center of Doylestown, PA, USA, a great little town with plenty to offer the visitor. Of course, you know I enjoy the food most of all, and BBQ is one of my favorite things. I stopped in here after catching a movie at the County Theater, just a few blocks away. Ordered up a brisket platter with cole slaw and baked beans. Darn good! (Sorry the photo is terrible!)

That brisket was very tender and smokey, absolutely delicious. I’ll definitely be back to try the chicken, pulled pork, and various other dishes. Here’s a look at part of the menu:

As mentioned above. I will definitely be back here to try a variety of other dishes. I’ll bring the Nikon and get some better photos as well. Enjoy every meal!
