Eagle Beach, Aruba, video visit

Eagle Beach is one beautiful stretch of sand here in Aruba. You can stake out a nice spot in the morning and enjoy yourself all day. Here’s a video visit showing some helpful tips:

Bookmark this page to view during those cold winter months. And make plans to head to Aruba, where the only ice you’ll find is in your drink. Bon dia.

Uncle Kenny’s BBQ, Aruba, video

After passing by Uncle Kenny’s BBQ for a couple of months, it was time to stop in and give it a try. This place is located near the Certified MegaMall on the access road that parallels the main highway between Oranjestaad and the hotel area in Aruba. There’s plenty of parking in front but only a couple of tables with shade. Plan for a take away experience. Here’s a video showing you a typical Aruban Sunday BBQ feast:

Man, that was a lot of food! Tasty, too. I expected it to be saltier but it wasn’t like some of the other joints that really load up the ribs before they hit the grill. This would be a good place to pop in after a day at the beach or for an inexpensive snack. Bon dia and don’t forget the cholesterol lowering medication of choice.

Tower Bridge, photos

A good friend (Thanks, Dr. Pete!) sent me these photos from London’s Tower Bridge, showing it under construction in 1892. Impressive.

You can see the wooden ships in the foreground and the steel structure of the bridge behind, two worlds colliding here. The next one shows some of the masonry shaping up.

It’s amazing to think of a time before this bridge was there. And the story goes that these photographs were left behind in an old building and kept by a fellow for many years before the resurfaced. Here’s another look.

There you see the steam derricks off to the side. Hard work back then and no computer simulations to test out the design. Must have been a good one, because the bridge is still there, an icon of London and Great Britain.

Dunkin’ Donuts, Aruba, video

Some readers of The Bent Page just can’t go without their Dunkin’ Donuts coffee in the morning. They wanted to know if there are any outlets in Aruba. I told them not worry, there are plenty of options here. Take a look my video showing a few:

So, rest assured, you can have your regular cup of coffee, iced or hot, here on the island. And those donuts are good, too! Bon dia.
