JoAnn Snack, Aruba, video

JoAnn Snack is a favorite stop on my lunch tour. I’ve been popping in here for snacks for more than 10 years. It’s only a few minutes drive from Aruba’s airport and full of friendly faces. Let’s head over there in this video:

The pork chop with salsa criollo is great. There are other things on the menu, all at reasonable prices. Given the easy location, you can find this place on your way roaming about the island or going back and forth to Baby Beach or just because you want to give it a try. Spanish skills are helpful, but the menu is in English, too, so don’t worry about it. They’re also happy to serve take out meals as well, in case you just want to tote the food back to your place. Bon dia.

Urataka Center, Aruba, video

Urataka Center is an old-time rum shop located in the middle of the island of Aruba. This is a quaint little place to stop in for refreshment, including pizza and cold beverages. It is located on the road leading into the Arikok National Park. Here’s a video showing how to get there and the inside of the place.

Reminds me of some places I used to go when I was a little tyke. I’ll pass by again soon and get some photos of the food and such, updating this post when I have a chance. In the mean time, enjoy your visit to Aruba. More video on the way.

Savaneta Beach, Aruba

The little beach in Savaneta, Aruba, may be tiny compared to Palm and Eagle Beaches, but you can have it mostly to yourself. During the week, especially from about 9 in the morning until 3 in the afternoon, you won’t find but a few people here. At least I never do. Once in a while you’ll see a guy bait fishing with a hand net or a diver going in from shore. Otherwise, it’s you and the breeze. So here’s a video:

Imagine yourself there. Bring a cooler, some sunscreen, and kick back for the real desert island experience. Bon dia from the island.

Airplanes at Wings Field

Wings Field is a wonderful small airport located just north of Philadelphia. Today they hosted an open house, featuring a number of modern aircraft. The following video takes you to see some of them.

Nice, eh? Absolutely. I learned to fly the Cirrus SR20 at Wings. Someday, I’d like to take the controls of one of the beauties featured in that video. In the mean time, I’ll be flying along at slightly slower speeds and lower altitudes, looking out for the traffic above. And by the way, if you get the chance to head off in one of them, don’t turn it down. You’ll love it! (Off to Aruba soon, so look for more exciting and interesting video from the island.)
