Aruba to Miami

As a frequent visitor to Aruba, I fly a regular route between Miami and my favorite island. I made this video of the return trip, showing the takeoff, a view of Aruba from above, and then the landing in Miami. Take a look, and don’t forget, it’s in full 1080 HD for you full screen junkies.

It was a great flight, especially the first few minutes, looking down at the island, seeing all the sights from on high. Those puffy clouds didn’t really get in the way. Once again, I’d like to thank American Airlines for carrying my safely along this route. We’ve been traveling together for more than 17 years.

Snorkeling at Rocky Point, Aruba

For all the years I’ve been visiting Aruba, I had not heard the term “rocky point” used to describe the area near Baby Beach, behind the former Esso Club. Whatever the case, two people went snorkeling there and only one came back. Beyond that, not many facts have been released. Here’s a video showing the conditions at the so-called “rocky point.”

Would you snorkel there? I wouldn’t. Baby Beach, with it’s beautiful cove and soft sand would be where I started. The Rum Reef Bar and Restaurant is located at the former Esso Club. Part of that operation includes a dive shop. Best to inquire there about a good place to snorkel.

Bon dia.

Driving to Casa Vieja, Aruba

Sure, I posted before about Casa Vieja, which is my favorite Colombian restaurant in Aruba. This time, we’re going to drive there, the way I’ve been doing to quite a few places. This makes them easy to find when you visit the island. You can also pause the video to check out the menu. Okay, here we go, driving to Casa Vieja, staring on the main highway from the hotel area to the Queen Beatrix Airport, all the way to the restaurant. Start your engines:

How do you like that Bandeja Paisa platter? Quite a meal, eh? Don’t forget the cholesterol lowering medication of your choice. Bon dia from Aruba.

Driving to the Hollywood Smokehouse, Aruba

Finding the Hollywood Smokehouse Diner in Aruba is easy, especially if you can vicariously drive there. I made the following video because people have been asking EXACTLY how to get to the joint. Put on your glasses and take notes. Use the HD function if you want the best view. Here we go.

Now you’re all set. When you arrive in Aruba and have a hankering for quality BBQ at very reasonable prices, all you have to do is fire up the fun machine and get on the roll.

Bon dia.
